Organizational Mission

To educate members and prospective members in the proper care, training, and discipline of dogs, involved in the sport of IPO (AKA Schutzhund) and to promote the sport in a favorable light.

The South Florida Schutzhund Club is an all-breed working dog club that trains in Broward County.  Our members travel from the tri-county area (Miami-Dade, Broward, West Palm Beach) to attend the club’s weekly training nights.

The club is active members of both the DVG America and the GSDCA-WDA, and its members often participate at other organizational events, such as the AMWA and AWDF.

The club was first started in the 70’s by Phil Hoelcher and Bud Yesner.  The group later became what is now the South Florida Schutzhund Club.

If you want to train your dog for Schutzhund/IPO and are interested in titling your dog, or if you dream of competing internationally, we are the club for you.  Club members range from beginner to international level competitors.  We have excellent trainers, and we are also very fortunate to have excellent helpers, who devote a lot of their time to help the members reach their training goals.
